6th Grade Science Classroom Information
Welcome back to school and welcome to my 6th grade science class. We’ll be studying a wide variety of science topics this year including life science, earth and space science, and physical science. My curriculum covers the Indiana Science Standards for 6th grade.
WHAT DO I NEED FOR THIS CLASS?
$5 Materials fee Composition Notebook
Glue Stick Mechanical Pencil
Safety Scissors Colored Pencils
Agenda Book CHARGED Chromebook
GRADING:
Grades are calculated using total points earned. I base letter grades on a standard grade scale.
GENERAL CLASSROOM RULES
1. ARRIVE ON TIME – Third tardy in grading period = detention
2. BE PREPARED – Please bring a composition notebook, mechanical pencil, agenda, charged Chromebook, and positive attitude daily
3. BE SEATED unless directed to do otherwise.
4. BE RESPECTFUL OF YOUR CLASSMATES’ PROPERTY, FEELINGS AND BODIES
5. Masks are required in my class for the health and safety of myself and students
Science class can be so much fun if you are curious, ask questions and pretend you are seeing the world for the very first time. Don’t be afraid to ask “Why....” and get involved in class discussions. You can only get out of this class what you put into it. Let’s make this a great year!

LAB RULES AND SAFETY PROCEDURES
Please refer to the class website for details on lab rules and safety procedures. These will be thoroughly discussed prior to the lab activities. Students will be required to sign a lab agreement before they will be allowed to participate in the lab.

3. No swearing or teasing
4. Do not talk while the teacher is talking
5. Do not leave the room without permission
6. Please come to class prepared
Entering room
1. Please walk directly to your desk and have a seat
2. Record the agenda for today
3. In your notebook answer the bell work question on the board
4. Face masks are required in class
Class interaction
1. Raise your hand to ask a question
2. Be respectful to teacher and other classmates
3. Do not disturb the class
4. No excessive talking or calling out
